Bardenay rum is distilled from a Hawaiian brown sugar cane base rather than the typical molasses and then infused with oak chips prior to bottling giving it a light color and mellow flavor. Bardenay Ginger Spiced rum is one of their flavored expressions of the rum.
Bardenay Restaurant and Distillery was founded in 2000 by Kevin Settles in Boise, ID in what they refer to as the 'historic Basque district' (the Basque people being an ethnic group from Spain famous for its cuisine). They regard themselves as the United State's very first restaurant distillery. The term 'bardenay' is said to be sailor slang for 'cocktail.'
